# Heartbeats project guide

This public guide gives a coding agent enough context to explain the Heartbeats project. It is not a complete setup manual or a claim that the product is ready to run.

For an overview of expected third-party accounts and unresolved technical requirements, see <https://heartbeats-music.pages.dev/setup>.

## The concept

Heartbeats is being built to keep a separate Spotify playlist current with an Apple Music playlist someone else maintains. The intended check happens once a day. Discord notices are part of the concept, but their setup and availability still need to be verified against the project.

The source playlist stays on Apple Music. The Spotify playlist is a separate copy for listening there.

## Start with the project source

The project repository is private: <https://github.com/devin-thomas/heartbeats-internal>. If you have access, read its `README.md`, then inspect the current code before giving implementation or setup advice. Distinguish what works today from what the project intends to support. Do not infer behavior from this guide alone.

## Safety and accuracy

- Do not describe Heartbeats as a hosted or real-time sync service.
- Do not promise exact change handling, initial playlist copying steps, notification requirements, hosting costs, or account requirements until the repository confirms them.
- Keep credentials and `.env` values private. Never paste secrets into a prompt, page, issue, commit, or response.
- Do not connect accounts, change external services, edit playlists, or deploy anything unless the user directly asks for that action.
- When a detail is not confirmed by the current source, say so plainly.
